Just before 10am, the historic spectacle is expected to roll into Caboolture train station with the Caboolture Historical Village set to put on a cannon salute.
Train enthusiasts will gather with Instagram photographers, with Moreton Bay Regional Council running an ‘Instameet’ to capture the arrival of the restored steam trains.
Volunteers have restored the BB18 ¼ 1079 and 1089, which will tow nine carriages with one dating back to 1902, at the Queensland Rail workshop at Ipswich over the past six months.
